Quick Peek: The Cozy Witch Tarot

· Informative and Educational,Deck Reviews

I have used the Believe in Your Own Magic oracle for a few years and love its whimsical beauty. When I learned a Tarot was on the way, I was ecstatic. As soon as I had the opportunity, I grabbed up a copy of the Cozy Witch Tarot. I have not been disappointed. The quirky characters and easy-to-understand illustrations are just as I expected.

Why I Love The Cozy Witch Tarot

Just as expected, the Cozy Witch Tarot is peopled with sweet pagan women living their magical lives. Amanda Lovelace and Janaina Medeiros deliver a fitting Tarot as a follow-up to Believe in Your Own Magic. Abbreviated card meanings are printed directly on the cards, which could give a boost to beginners or a new shade of meaning to seasoned readers. Even if you don’t fully embrace the meanings printed on the card, it may come in handy for a future reading.

Some Favorite Cards

From the Major Arcana, two of my favorites are The Broom (Death) and The Lovers. The Broom emphasizes the change aspect of the Death card. However, Cozy Witch may soften this a bit. I have always viewed Death as a sudden unavoidable transition period. Broom signifies it’s time to make some changes and sweep out the old energy to make room for new. The Lovers card gives importance to choices and decision-making, the original meaning of this card. I cannot fully emphasize the irritation I feel when this card is used to mean a romance or partnership. This is what the 2 of Cups tells us, not the Lovers card.

The Minor Arcana cards that stand out for me are the Pentacles. Yes, the whole suit. Rather than fully focus on material things, Cozy Witch shines a light on feelings of satisfaction and grounding. These are certainly elements of the suit.
